Instagram's Game-Changer: How Entrepreneurs Are Evolving Marketing
5 years ago I got obsessed with the idea that TikTok was the next best space for entrepreneurs. I am getting a similar bug today with this new Instagram feature.
Since the early days of the internet, everyone chases the same thing: the email address. That one piece of data means you can knock directly. You can send a message, drop a pitch, or build a relationship. But even with the right contact info, the hard part is always the same: keeping someone’s attention.
I’ll be honest. I spend hours every week unsubscribing from random clothing brands I don’t even remember shopping from. But I get it. They’re trying to stay top of mind. I’m doing the same thing in my own way. As I grow Blueprints and build my community, email is my go-to channel. Still, I know the truth. Most of you aren’t scrolling through my stories or even checking my page. You’re reading the email, maybe, and then you move on. (Though I hope you don’t.)
That gets me thinking. What do people actually want to check? Where do they tap in without being asked? It’s their texts. Their group chats. Instagram. I find myself wishing I can just drop Blueprints into a giant group DM. As I check group chat sizes, I stumble upon it. Instagram Broadcast Channels. A place where creators can start their own group chats with an infinite number of participants.
Instagram quietly rolls out a feature that lets creators open a one-way group chat, right inside the app. No limits. No spam folder. It lives where people are already spending their time: the DMs. I check a few creators I admire—Gary Vee, Mosseri—and sure enough, they have them. Updates, voice notes, links, thoughts. It feels more like a conversation than a post.
It makes sense. About 500 million people use Instagram every single day. It’s not just a place to browse, it’s a reflex. Which means Broadcast Channels show up in one of the most habit-driven spaces on your phones.
And the best part? There’s no form to fill out. No email to type in. If someone wants to hear from you, all they have to do is tap a blue button while they scroll.
But I don’t just watch this happen and report back to you. I test it. I set up a channel for a large account (@zarnagarg) to see what actually happens. Thousands join. Within seconds of posting, hundreds see and react to the message. No subject lines. No open rates. Just seen. We evaluate new merch by seeing how many likes it gets. Promote new events through links sent. It is truly a game changer.
Broadcast channels are instant. They’re intimate. One tap and you're in the room. It’s the newsletter that actually lands in real time.
We all train to build the perfect landing page. Collect the right emails. Schedule the next blast. But the inbox moves. It’s not in Gmail. It’s in your DMs. If you want to build a community today, start where people actually live.
Moreover, I’m starting my own channel (@brijgarg). If you're interested in branding, storytelling, or joining a community where you can help myself and others cultivate ideas, feel free to join. After all, it’s just a simple blue button.
